We’re hiring a Managing Editor (Tokyo)

About us

All Turtles is a startup studio with teams developing practical AI products to solve everyday problems. We opened in June 2017 in San Francisco, and have teams working across the globe. We’re ambitious — with studios opening in Paris and Tokyo in 2018. All Turtles staff numbers about 35, with over 120 people affiliated with our studio companies and projects. Current studio companies include Butter.ai, Edwin, Disco, Leaders, Octane AI, Replika, Spot, and Sunflower Labs (and a handful of secret projects).

We’re backed by a group of prestigious investors — including Salesforce Ventures, General Catalyst, and Digital Garage — with decades of worldwide startup experience.

The role

In preparation for re-launching our site with an editorial focus, we’re hiring a managing editor in Tokyo. You’ll work closely with the Tokyo studio head, and the editor in chief in San Francisco, to help hire, manage, and inspire a small team of local freelance writers who provide authoritative coverage of entrepreneurship, AI, product development, and new models for innovation. Additionally, you’ll help create publishing partnerships with local tech and business press outlets to include bloggers and guest writers. Finally, you’ll also write one or more articles a week. There will be opportunities to develop and produce podcasts and videos in the months ahead.

This is an immediate opening.

About you

Deeply-sourced with leading figures in the local ecosystem.

Skilled at editing news and smart analysis combining original reporting, research, and observation.

Ambitious and creative with high standards of excellence and a sense of humor.

Experienced with WordPress, finding compelling art for articles, and best practices of online journalism.

Bilingual writing and editing abilities (Japanese-English)
